Informative
Graphics Enables Document Publishing For Viewing In The Macromedia
Flash Player By Licensing Blue Pacific Software Source Code
Technology
Will Enable Net-It™ Central To Publish Documents For Viewing
By More Than 500 Million Browsers with the Macromedia Flash Player
PHOENIX,
Arizona - March 10, 2003 — Informative Graphics Corporation
(IGC), a leader in Web-document and collaboration technology, announced
today that IGC has obtained a source code license from Blue Pacific
Software, enabling the publishing of documents to Macromedia’s
Flash format. The company plans to enhance the technology and integrate
it into a future release of its Web-based publishing solutions,
starting with Net-It Central. Net-It Central makes it very easy
to publish document files created in virtually any Windows™
application to an existing intranet or corporate portal.
Blue
Pacific’s technology creates Flash documents from any Windows
desktop application, allowing content to be published to more than
500 million Web browsers where the Flash player is currently in
use. Flash documents can be preloaded and streamed to a client browser,
greatly reducing delay and creating the best possible user experience
- even on low bandwidth connections. Documents can be interactively
viewed by page number, zoomed and panned, and printed with high
fidelity. Blue Pacific’s technology also supports double-byte
international languages through the use of Unicode, permitting documents
to be published in a broad range of languages.
Net-It
Central automates document publishing to intranets by processing
files that are simply dropped into a designated directory or directory
tree. Its simplicity makes it usable by anyone, so content stays
fresh and current, and the company intranet actually gets used.
Net-It Central utilizes document libraries (directories) and features
such as document indexing, content expiration, and an “I have
read this” user sign-off function.
“We’re
very glad to see Blue Pacific’s technology being put to such
good use – Flash Printer is a perfect fit for Informative
Graphics’ rich document solutions. I believe our significant
expertise on the Flash format will allow IGC to seamlessly integrate
the technology and enhance their document publishing solutions,”
said Jorge Diogo, CEO at Blue Pacific. “We are very pleased
that IGC quickly recognized the potential of Flash publishing for
corporate document distribution.”
“Our
vision is all about putting content in motion to downstream users
- in short, Web publishing and collaboration,” said Gary Heath,
CEO at IGC. “Using Flash as a delivery mechanism for document
content is a very ground-breaking and makes great sense given how
ubiquitous Flash is and how well it works. Blue Pacific’s
innovative technology is of strategic importance for our product
plans and will serve to broaden Net-It Central’s market position.
This technology acquisition, once enhanced and integrated, will
enable Net-It Central customers to publish public documents to the
Internet as well as their own corporate intranets. For many documents,
the Flash player is a better choice than other, bulkier alternatives,”
he added.
